Short answers to the questions we hear most about the .uk finder.
Where Do the Domain Names Come From?
From the drop list that Nominet, the .uk registry, publishes every day. We download the new list each day and update the finder.
How Is the Name Score Worked Out?
The score from 0 to 100 is our own estimate of how strong a name is. Common real words, short names and names with fewer words score higher. Numbers, hyphens, hard-to-say letter combinations and possible trademark issues score lower. It is a guide for sorting, not a valuation.
Will Every Name on the List Actually Drop?
No. A name can be renewed by its owner until the last five days before its drop time. Names more than five days away may still disappear from the list.
What Time Zone Are Drop Times In?
All drop times are in UTC, the same as Nominet’s list. The Left column shows how long remains before each name drops.
What Do the Presets Do?
Presets set several filters at once:
- Best names: one or two real words, highest score first.
- Short names: six letters or fewer.
- Niche site: two or three real words. Add your topic words in the Has any of these words box.
- Brandable: made-up names that are easy to say.
- Dropping today: good names dropping in the next 24 hours.
How Do Saved Names Work?
Click the star next to a name to save it. Saved names are kept in your own browser, so they stay on this device and disappear if you clear your browser data. We never see them.
Why Can I Only See 10 Pages of Results?
Each search shows up to 10 pages so the site stays fast and the list can’t be copied in bulk. Narrow your filters to see more of the names you care about.
Can I Register a Name Through This Site?
No. We don’t sell or register domains. After a name drops, register it through any registrar that sells .uk domains.
Do You Cover Other Extensions?
Right now the finder covers .uk names. We plan to add more extensions. If there is one you want, let us know at hello@expireddomaintools.com.
